This was a great game apart from the scoreline. We had most of the possession in the first half and created most of the pressure in a flowing game but despite threading our way into their D countless times we just couldn't find the big hit on target or the final precise touch. Faced with a packed veteran defence, we showed great patience and creativity, with short pass combinations and hard work running into space. Use of width in the final 23 meters was impressive in the 2nd half, Tarka and Tom both delivering dangerous crosses. The midfield workrate was impressive, with Nick Earnshaw and Mark Button holding things together whilst Tarka, James and Tom buzzed around breaking up Bar's build ups time after time. Jo Hopper and Jack Button enjoyed having some space to work with and found some great passes, Jamie Mark and Graham had Bar's attack well under control for the first 45 minutes but after Mark's departure to join the 2s the pressure built up and Bar took their chances well.
The goals will come, we are doing things right and learning game by game. The skill and match sense is there to develop, pace and strength will come with time.
