The 7s enjoyed their 3rd win of the season against a largely veteran Cheshunt side who allowed us that bit of space and time on the ball which we have missed in the last few games. Whilst we had to lend Grahame and the Perkins to the 6s, Kris, Simon and Max came down to join us and we had a nicely balanced side, with Simon showing his all round skills and energy as the marauding super-sub. Clive stepped in as keeper this week and returned our first clean sheet of the season. Cheshunt troubled us often enough in the first quarter and we had to fend off three or four short corners, but they were a bit ponderous in open play. Steve and I, this time with Kris covering in front of us, smothered most of the threat down the middle, Max and Lewis formed a lively and inter-changeable paring at left back and left mid, effective in attack and defence, the Hoppers tied up the right, and the best aspect of our play was our ability to feed the ball reliably out of defence and through midfield. Sean, Chris and Simon broke up anything their midfield tried to build, and got Ian away time after time to harry their backs. Isaac ran well off the ball and found lots of good space, my only real gripe this week is that we didn't get the ball out to him as often, or as quickly, as we needed to.

Despite a couple of good opportunities in the first half, it was 0 - 0 at half time but were looking much the stronger team as the game went on. Ian put us ahead with 50 minutes gone, Kris followed up with his first goal for a quarter of a century a few minutes later, finishing a lovely 6 pass move starting from Jo's 16 yard clearance. We did drop our guard a couple of times at the back in the final quarter as Cheshunt played on the break, but we ended the game well in control.
