It should be tough to put a positive on a 9 - 3 defeat, but in the case of yesterdays game it is not.
Reflecting on the game we played a good side who should be there or there about in the top 2 or 3 positions at the end of the season, a team who haven’t conceded in their first 2 league games and scored 10. We put 3 past them yesterday and had chance’s to score a couple more.
We were valiantly supported by 5 members of the 7’s who were stepping up 2 leagues and acquitted themselves very well a big thanks to you, to Nick, Elliot, Ian, Lewis and Isaac.
We got caught out by the pace and passing ability of the opposition and found ourselves 3 down after about 10 minutes, we adjusted as best we could and became a more competitive unit and when moving forward it always felt that we could get back into the game, and indeed Aaron’s 4th goal in 3 games come from a good move and some lovely individual skill in the D to put away a good goal.
Half time gave us a chance to re group and we were far more competitive but Bedford continued to move the ball very well and their finishing was top notch. Kris scored 2 goals in the second half, I at 11 minutes and the 2nd at 24 minutes. Both goals come from some good teamwork and movement through the midfield.
So the positives.
The 7’s players stepped up 2 leagues and acquitted themselves well. We put 3 good goals past a team yet to concede, our younger players kept their heads up despite the quality of the opposition.
Teamwork, encouragement and work rate was excellent, couldn’t of asked for more. The umpires at the end of the game commented that the score line didn’t reflect the game.
Great effort everyone it was a tough game, but we dust ourselves off and go again next weekend, 15:00 at Queenswood against top of the league Bengal Tigers who are a new team formed from a team in Tower Hamlets so I’ve no previous experience of playing them.
