Hertford Mens 6s have secured promotion with 2 weeks of the season remaining.

Hertford started strongly with a goal in the first minute. A strong tackle on half way and an incisive pass to Aaron opened up the attack. Pace down the right flank was followed by an excellent cross for Charlie to smartly put away the ball at the back post and score a first 6s goal. Great team goal and nerves settled.

Will doubled the lead in the 9th minute. Good passing into the Luton D opened up a path to a well taken flick at goal.

Rather than letting heads drop, Luton came back into the game in the 2nd quarter but the Hertford defence remained solid, determined to defend high despite a Luton attacker being posted high to patrol the Hertford baseline. The score remained 2-0 as half-time was blown.

Luton had their most concerted attacking phase in the third quarter, after they shuffled their key players around. However, it was Hertford that scored next after several counter attacks ended in a penalty stroke being awarded to the away team. Up stepped Will again who calmly slotted away a flick to bring the score to 3-0.

As the game moved into the final 10 minutes, Hertford found a PC routine that worked and Matt put away a rebound.

In the last minute of the game, a chance fell to James at the top of the D. A reverse stick special through a bit of a crowd provided the game a second well-deserved debut goal for the 6s. Now 17 different scorers for the 69 in the Goals For column.

Much back slapping resulted after the final whistle ... for lots a great performances around the pitch, a 10th clean sheet (6s have the 4th meanest defence in the whole of the East region), 5 great team goals, an eighth straight win and a result that moves the team to top of the table, and means that second is the worst that we will end up in Div7.
