BU14 Stags enjoyed a good mornings hockey in the 7 aside tournament at Letchworth. Despite the absence of regular keeper Elliot and a few other last minute absences due to illness, the 10 boys who played were a credit to the club both for their skill on pitch and the sense of determined but fair play.
We saw some very determined defending (Josh Scott notable for a number of goal line clearances in the last game against Blueharts) and once we had the ball won there was some good off the ball running and sensible, composed and accurate passing moving the ball quickly into our attacking D. The one game they lost to North London (Southgate Adelaide) was ironically the game they fought best in. Having conceded a soft goal for the push back Hertford ensured that the NL ‘keeper (borrowed from Blueharts) had to make a string of saves to keep them in front. Otherwise it was down to NL’s particularly skilful centre midfield to set up their limited chances albeit they made the most of those they had.
Results:
Potters Bar - won 1-0 (Louis Joe Archer)
North London - lost 1-3 (Sean Wade-Bond)
Broxbourne - won 1-0 (Louis Joe Archer)
Blueharts - won 2-0 (Cormac Green x 2)
All the boys played well. Some good goals scored by Sean, Cormac and Louis Joe (who capped a good weekend having made his senior debut for Men’s 6 the previous day). James Murray fitted in well on his debut for Hertford having made the move from Stevenage. Full team:
Louis Joe Archer, Isaac Burns, Matt Carter, Ed Chandler, William Collier, James Furse, Cormac Green, James Murray, Josh Scott, Sean Wade-Bond.
