Geoff and Luke lead from the back

A funny old game....Luke intercepted an opposition 16 after 2 minutes, slipped the ball to Arthur who calmly slotted right into the corner of the goal. Opposition heads seemed to drop with the early goal, and we seemed to stay in second gear, with 68 minutes to go! Southgate Adelaide were dangerous on the break but Geoff Hopkin made a series of good saves to see off the danger. Our scoring ticked along, with Luke Kennedy beating two players in the D before popping the ball passed the keeper. He then added another with a drag flick into the top left corner from a short corner before we conceded from a penalty flick. 3-1 at half time. If Southgate Adelaide had clawed one back it could have got interesting, but we continued to dominate possession and territory. Luke Kennedy scored his hatrick with a reverse hit and a fourth from a well worked short corner routine following a 1-2 with Arthur Twyning. As the opposition tired, Jack Timms and Robert Holman both scored their first games for the team following good passing moves that stretched the defence beyond breaking point.
Geoff Hopkin put in another great performance in goal and four goals from Luke Kennedy did rather help too. A good win, and I hate to think what the score would have been if we'd got out of second gear and into top!
