M5s win battle royale

As expected, a physical game against MBDA. Bearing in mind seven of our team are 13 years old, under 5 foot 6 and about 6 stone each, we were likely to struggle against a physical game. That said, we started well and played well, passing the ball around and moving well. Ewen Macpherson opened the scoring with a quick shot from the top of the D that crept in the far post. Despite having a couple of short corners to defend we stayed strong in defence with Ed Hartley playing a very solid first half. We started the second half well with a simple quick passing move between Luke, Josh and then Arthur saw Arthur finish passed an isolated keeper. MBDA fought back hard, a few of our players got flattened, and the game descended into a nigglely bad tempered final quarter. MBDA nicked a goal back from a short corner and put us under further pressure but we stayed strong in defence, and Will was strong in goal. We kept our noses in front to see out the win, with Robert Hartley made an entertaining debut. It was an excellent team performance - the young players picked themselves up, kept focused and worked hard for an excellent three points.
