Stevenage VI 5 - 2 Hertford V

Just as well - as most of us can't sprint any more....

A fairly even game against our old friends up the A119, but they took their chances far better than we did. Our very senior back 4 struggled a bit for pace and midfield looked nippier going forward than they did going back. Basics were distinctly rusty in the first half, with disappointingly few passes finding their targets. Still, we played some good moves and found some good space, notably a lovely succession of passes down the right for our first goal, with Chris Shattock finishing to level at 1 - 1. However, we shipped three goals either side of half time, and despite much better second half, with a goal from Adam and good efforts from Tor and myself, we never looked like catching up.

Good debuts for Tor Bartram, Rian Weston and Chris Dean, and another cameo from Nick Hoyle to remind us what we missed last year.

Never mind the result, we got a good work out and we know where we need to tighten up. And it's great to be back together again for another exciting year
