It was Literally not a Melee!
So we went into this game full of the beans having won our last game and this is how it went.
After navigating the magic roundabout in Hemel we rocked up to the pitches in Tring in plenty of time for our match.
We took advantage of the extra time to have a wee catch up in the changing rooms as it had been three weeks since our last victorious game.
We bounced out of the changing rooms onto the pitch for our warm up. The umpires blew the Captains whistle and guess what! I won the toss again!
Right so the main issue was the oppositions forward player named Mel who made fantastic runs (quickly, too quick for me) up the pitch and boom in the back of the net. So this went on a bit in the first half with the goal tally mounting up, thank goodness for the half time whistle, a chance to re-group.
Our Lovely Head Coach Mary (she's famous you know, had her name in the paper last week being credited for the 5's remarkable first season and taking the division title) gave us a talking to about our poor performance first half. Well that's what a two week break does for you! We set up for the second half full of determination to get some goals and not let the opposition score too many more.
Well we scored one (I say we, it was actually Mary) and I think they scored 2 so a better second half.
We went back to the oppositions clubhouse to reflect on the match, get a good feed of jacket potatoes, cheese and beans (a teas that Becs can actually eat, woo hoo, well minus the cheese, ) and a chin wag about the upcoming dinner and dance.
Becs also taught us a new word so I will be introducing a weekly Dictionary corner hosted by my wonderful Vice Becs to our match de-briefs.
Man of the Match went to Laura, very well deserved.
Fingers crossed for a better result tomorrow against Broxbourne.
