Hertford run riot in fiesty encounter

After two weeks off, Hertford travelled away to face St Albans 4s. A record breaking youngest team piled on the pressure from the outset, putting St Albans under pressure. Molly Hobson opened the scoring by dribbling around all the defenders, and nailing a reverse stick shot. Hobson used her skill to again run the baseline and slip a cross to Lizzie Moore who expertly tapped the ball over the goalkeeper. With things getting a bit feisty, and sticks flying all over the pitch, Emily Parry stayed calm and again attacked up the right. With Evie Reynolds sprinting in to the D, Parry crossed a perfectly timed ball to Reynolds who deflected it into the net. The first half finished on a short corner allowing Hertford to show off their well drilled routine. Molly Hobson received the ball, and a slip left to Holly Mayes which was swept centimetres inside the left post. Half time and Hertford are 4-0 up.

The second half continued with sticks and players clashing. Woman of the match Emily Palmer and Mayes continued to plough through and Hertford won another short corner. Laura Sharman injected to Hobson who smashed the ball into the backboard. Hertford held their defence throughout and continued to attack from all angles. The final goal was a run from Parry who ended up 1:1 with the goalkeeper, with Parry’s first shot saved, she got the rebounded ball and pushed it over the line. Final score 6-0 to Hertford.

Goalscorer and team hooligan Moore said ‘I had a great game, I got three handshakes!’ This result means Hertford are top of the league and their quest for promotion continues.
