Another well fought win for the Men's 3's with a slightly depleted team from last week. But the boys fought hard and came away with a good win
The first half was an even affair, with Hertford being clinical on the break with first half goals from Stevie Worrall and a great move down the right which resulted in Jasper Carr finishing from close range. Smudger making some decent saves in goal to ensure that Hertford kept their lead.
Saffron Walden started the second half well and pinned back Hertford, but some stout defending by Max, Double-Barrel Miles, apparently injured Jon Green and the Vice Kipper, kept them at bay! Hertford managed a third from another breakaway with Ciaran Begg finishing well from the top of the D
Walden came back into again though and 2 goals in a 5 minutes kept the last 10 very tight, but Hertford held on for a good win and now can focus on their first League game at Harpenden and continue the winning mentality that has been installed in the 3's
Special mention for Miles for an excellent display at centre back along with Jon Green. To Sam and Ciaran for decent performances after stepping up from the 4's and Dickie for trying to claim he was never at fault for any of the goals and playing pin-ball in the last minute with the Walden keeper!
Same again next week
