The mighty 2s made it 3 wins in 3 this season in 4sw with a thoroughly professional display against a Southgate Adelaide side who are looking to bounce straight back up to 3sw this year after being relegated.
After a mazy dribble in the opposing D James Begg put Hertford ahead early in the first half, continuing his impressive scoring run this season of 4 in 3.
Despite the opposition having several dangerous attacking players, good organisation and discipline in defence couple with excellent hunger for the 50/50 balls typified by left back Elliot Barling, Hertford's goal was unbreached.
Two further goals in the first half by Andy Durbin, a back post poach followed by a sharp short corner back poach deflection put Hertford 3 up at the break.
The cry at half time was to relentlessly keep up the high level of hockey and not give the opposition a chance to get back into in and the team responded magnificently.
Hertford controlled the midfield with Dan Livings, back after injury last season, having a great game transferring the ball quickly from side to side and making driving runs when opportunity arose.
Hertford had a few half chances in the second half but Southgate were tough to break down as they were seemingly playing 5 at the back, but nonetheless the 2s at times played breathtakingly swift counter attacking hockey.
Impressively Hertford maintained their third clean sheet in a row by never letting their defensive concentration drop even right until the final whistle.
The challenge now is to maintain this excellent level of hockey every week.
