GMS
Season 23/24 2 of 5

2. GMS

The Game Management System (GMS) is the England Hockey system to record all hockey matches in England.

This system will be used by all competitions in the forthcoming season 23/24, and therefore all playing members, umpires and team officials need to be signed up to be able to be involved in any league action.

For more general information on GMS & how to register you can head to the England Hockey website.

New Players & Player Transfers
New Players
If you are not already registered on the GMS system for any club, please register here. U18s must be registered by a parent. There is more information on how to register a child in our 'Youth Players' section further down this page. Please make sure to select the correct club, as there are several with very similar names!

Player Transfers
Currently there is no functionality on GMS for clubs to arrange and approve transfers themselves directly (in development). Therefore at the moment this is being done by GMS support. This is due to be added before the new 2023/24 season.

If you are currently registered on GMS with another club, and transferring to Hertford HC, the releasing club need to contact GMS (Email: gms.support@englandhockey.co.uk) to approve the transfer, and that the player in question has no outstanding fees or cards. Ask them to Bcc you on the email so you have a record it has been sent. GMS Support will then transfer you on the GMS system. To speed things along, please ensure you have paid any outstanding fees to your previous club, and returned any kit or equipment if requested.

If you are currently registered on GMS with Hertford HC, and wish to transfer to another club, please contact the club. Please state the club to which you are transferring, and if you know it, their email contact details. To speed things along, please ensure you have paid any outstanding fees owed to HHC, and returned any kit or equipment if requested.

Youth Players (U18s)
U18s must be registered by a parent. If you are unsure how to do this, instructions, and also information on how to add a child if you are already registered on GMS as a player, can be found in the EH guidance below.

If you play for Hertford in an age group team, but play your senior hockey with another club (or vice versa), please make sure the youth section team are aware as they will need to ask GMS support to arrange your dual registration (if this was done last season, no further action is required).

Umpires
All club umpires officiating in league fixtures need to be registered on GMS as part of the England Hockey Officiating Club (EHO). More information about the EHO and the different categories of membership can be found HERE.

If you have not already done so, please register here and select “Officiating”.
Select your Primary and Secondary Area Branches as appropriate. Your Primary Area Branch should be the one where you wish to either undertake the majority of independent umpiring opportunities or receive support with your Officiating.
Select the appropriate EHO membership category. If you are unsure what category to choose, more information is on the England Hockey website here, or contact Tim Ireland via the contact card below.

If you are a player who also umpires you will need to register on GMS twice using the same email address - once as a 'Player' and once as 'Officiating'.
