This was set up to be a match of challenges with the team missing captain Jules Hawkins to the sunny Caribbean and a lack of goalkeepers further up the club meant the team were to play without a keeper. But undeterred and more determined than ever the girls played some fantastic hockey.
After successive waves of attack Lizzy found the net with a lovely run and first time strike on goal. Buoyed by finally scoring, Molly also found herself some space with a slap strike in from middle of the D after continued pressure on their goal and some outstanding saves from the Letchworth keeper. Hertford led 2-0 at half time and went into the second half confident. just as well as shortly after the home team were awarded a flick which Claire managed to demonstrate how to make things easy for the keeper who made an easy save.
However, pressure continued and Lucy cleverly weaved her way into the D and stuck sweetly for 3-0. Leah continued the pressure dribbling past the keeper with Lucy showing how a flick should be taken, finding the bottom right hand corner - a master class for the more senior stroke takers in the team!
Overall a strong performance, with the backs working well together to minimise any real attacking moves. And halves and forwards moving the ball well.
Well done girls!
