Not as bad a game as we had feared, or as bad as the scoreline shows. Against a team two divisions above us we made them work very hard for an hour, but exhaustion caught up with us in the last ten minutes and we conceded three late goals.
Whilst we never looked like getting a win, for the first half we were competitive over most of the pitch, keeping good defensive shape and holding the ball well in midfield. We even manages a few breaks into their D, one short corner and even hit the post as Chris Dean put a neat deflection on a through ball. But we couldn’t complain at being two down at the break, as we twice failed to clear the lines after Nick had got good first saves in. The second half was a bit more of a defensive battle, needing some luck and some more good saves from Nick before a penalty and then the three late goals broke us down.
Nick Izzard and Graham White share MotM but a great effort all round.
A final thanks and farewell to Nicholas and good luck with your studies at Nottingham.
