Hertford VI 2 - 2 West Herts VII

Another thrilling encounter with the Watford boys, and the first time the 6s have managed to get a draw out of a friendly since we were formed 16 months ago.

For the first 15 minutes it looked like we were heading for another defensive battle, with Nick having to save regularly and Graham contributing a string of crucial tackles. Perhaps they got a little overconfident, but with Kash back in the side and Nick and Chris back in combination on the right, we were capable of fast counter-attacks and they duly paid. Chris Duncan got on the end of Dave Harding's cross to the far post to give us the lead, and Chris returned the favour, feeding Dave from the right to dribble in and beat the keeper off the rebound.

We got to the break 2 - 0 up but West Herts must have had a good half time talk and came at us with new energy and purpose, pulling one back after 5 minutes and dominating play for much of the half. We defended stoically, Nick pulled off a string of saves and we continued to make our own chances, Chris crossing repeatedly from the right across the goalmouth and Kash producing the champagne moment of the day with a reverse stick flyer that went a foot over the crossbar. We held out until the hour, but with a short corner count at 9 - 2 we couldn't really complain to come away with a draw. MotM goes to Dave Harding, with Nick close behind for another fine performance in goal.

That's 4 home games unbeaten (another record for the 6s), a record that will last at least till February as we now have 4 away games in a row.
