Stevenage 5/6 3 - 1 Hertford 6

Very much a first friendly of the season both in pace and skill, but we managed so nice open play, passed creatively and confidently from the start, and kept a good shape throughout, despite having 6 new faces in the side, and 3 of them playing their first full-pitch match. Stevenage made the more effective pressure in attack, the short corner count was heavily in their favour and it needed a couple pf good saves from Nick to get us to half time at 0 - 0. Kash and Tony managed shots for us. In the second half Stevenage capitalised neatly on some defensive sluggishness, and ran to a 3 - 0 lead which never really reflected the play. Chris Dean got us on the scoresheet towards the end. Big thanks to Peter Trandler and Jon Green for holding defensive midfield together. Good debuts for Richard Churchill, Adam and Graham Locker, Aodhan Green, Kash Govindaswamy and Nick Hughes - we have a lot of potential to build on this year. And very nice to see three father/son combinations in the side.

Man of the match goes to Tony Dean, who moved up to midfield and gave us a fine all round performance of tackling and distribution.
