Bedford V 7 - 1 Hertford VI

It was a lot to hope for against the league leaders, and our amazing run of 6 consecutive away wins, stretching back to October, finally came to an end.

Despite missing several regulars, other returning after lengthy lay offs, and Clive and John carrying injuries, we relied on some dogged defence and a big pinch of good luck to avoid the bad starts that have plagued us so often this season, and with Nick Izzard playing out of his skin in goal we were happy to keep it to 2 - 0 at half time. We even threatened to come back into the game with a good spell of pressure in the last 10 minutes, Dave Harding going closest with a short corner strike, saved brilliantly on the line, as was Mark's follow up.

A couple of quick goals after the break ended the contest, but Dave pulled one back with a clean strike from our second short corner, and despite the final score line we certainly weren't played off the pitch. MotM goes to Nick, gold star to George for his inexaustible efforts to put some pressure on their defence.

Now our glorious away run has ended, maybe we can break our sequence of 7 home defeats as well next weekend??
