Stevenage VI 0 - 7 Hertford VI

Stevenage didn't field a strong side and were unlucky to come up against one of our strongest line-ups, but we've struggled to put weaker sides away several times this season so it was good to show what we can do for a change.

Three well taken early goals from DPJ, George and Chris Dean, all following some neat and fast passing combinations, gave us a dream start. Then we lost focus a bit, squandered several more good opportunities and had to see off a couple of short corners at the other end. The half time talk must have done the trick, we started moving the ball around again, George and DPJ quickly added their second goals, we still marked tightly and snuffed out any hint of a threat to our goal, and played most of the last 20 minutes in the last 30 yards of the pitch. George struck a blinder on the inside post from an impossible angle to give the 6th team their first ever hat-trick and added his 4th at the end after a delicate feed from Noah.

Man of the Match has to go to George, but Gold Star efforts from Josh and Andy who kept the centre midfield in a grip of steel for most of the game, and from Noah who's short passing contributed to most of our scoring opportunities. With Rian and Noah (and Chris when pulled back from the front line) tracking back well, Nicholas and the back 4 (including nearly half a game from Keith Parker) enjoyed a quiet morning and a rare chance to practice long square passes and other clever things that proper teams do. Rian and DPJ traded countless passes to open up space up the left; we could have made a bit more use of the right hand corner but with Chris and George slipping so effectively though the middle channel I really can't grumble much.

Need I say, that is our biggest win so far, our 4th clean sheet, and our 3rd away win in a row. Unbeaten on the road now since 24 October!!
