Lots of positives despite a disappointing scoreline

Nothing like as bad as the result suggests. A good performance against a much stronger side with pace and finishing skills that would not look out of place in our 3s. We even took the lead on 10 minutes, Daryl Keogh following in an Andy Benson short corner drive, and despite a quick equaliser we matched them well for much of the first half. However, they worked out our vulnerabilities -lack of pace at the back, and lack of experience in defensive midfield work - and scored regularly once they had got ahead. We still competed well, building rapid attacks around Daryl and Andy's long balls, and could easily have had a couple more, so nothing to be downhearted about. We showed some good signs of improvement in our defensive organisation as the game went on and we never gave up. If we can get our mental and physical reactions half a second quicker, all will come good.

Great to see both the Keogh's back with us, Daryl edges Man of the Match award for tireless work at centre back and excellent distribution. Niall Gilsenan completed the reunion with his first appearance since heading off to Uni three years ago.

Champagne moments: Tor getting on the end of a 50 yard cannonball from Daryl when everyone else was looking at the Soughgate back line; and Nicholas swiping a vicious lifted shot over the crossbar in the second half. But lots of good work from everyone. Keep this up and we will soon be moving back up the table.
