Hertford Girls U10s - Champions of both Hertfordshire & Essex

I'm delighted to report that Hertford U10 Girls have become champions of both Hertfordshire AND Essex leagues! The squad recently won the Herts County Finals beating our arch rivals Blueharts in the final. Yesterday, the girls also won the Essex League Finals and finished top of the Essex league overall for the season. Between the two tournaments, our girls scored 29 goals and conceded 0! This is a great accomplishment, especially as it's the first season Hertford has played in the Essex League, which has some big and renowned clubs.

Great credit must go to the girls for their fantastic teamwork and commitment. Everyone played their part and they worked beautifully together. They used the space well, they supported each other all the time. They scored some lovely team goals with crisp, fast passing, and also some lovely individual goals. The goal that won the deciding match against Chelmsford was a well worked drill from a short corner. Everyone played their part in defending with some resolute tackling and a 'thou shalt not pass' attitude. Eva Pidduck in GK deserves a special mention as she stayed alert the entire time and when called into action, made some great saves. It's not easy to retain your concentration when your team is mostly attacking so well done Eva!

Great credit must go to the Girls U10s Head Coach Nick Evans, who must age a few years at every tournament as he directs the troops! Nick has been ably assisted by Jules, Dorian and Laura, and of course Luke who has directed the training sessions every Saturday - a truly collective team effort!

We now look forward to the squad competing in the East Regional Finals, which will take place at Harlesden HC in Norfolk on Saturday April 28th. Whatever the outcome, the girls will compete to their fullest and can already feel extremely proud of their achievements this season. Well done girls!
