With 12 players ready to turn around the past fortnight's losses, Hertford Ladies 3s made their way to Potters Bar to face a team that are new to the league.
Hertford started the game on a positive note, spending most of their time in the opposition's 23. This became a reflection of the majority of the first half. However, despite strong challenges from Izzy, Ella and Georgie, and numerous short corners injected well from Becca, no goals appeared. As the first half drew to a close, Hertford were becoming frustrated with a 0-0 score line.
After the break, Potters Bar changed their attacking formation as they went for a goal. Intricate pieces of play were made on their part, drawing interceptions and strong tackles from the Hertford defence. As a result, short corners came and again the defence and Eleanor in goal dealt well with these, leading to the score line remaining the same.
In spite of the opposition's want for a goal, Hertford remained dangerous on the attack. Jo remained a threat with her picking up and distributing balls out to Lucie, Lily and Vicky on the wings. This eventually lead to the first goal, where an attack down the right hand side of the pitch and into the D wrong footed the goalkeeper and allowed Ella to tap the ball into an open goal.
After this potters bar continued fighting for a goal but Georgie, ever determined to score, dribbled round most of the opposition's defence in the final minutes to slot the ball into the right hand corner of the goal and declare the match a 2-0 win to Hertford.
All round this was a much improved performance on previous weeks, with Georgie again being awarded man of the match. Hopefully we can get a repeat performance against Stevenage 4s next weekend.
