Having pulled 3 players up from the 4s (Lily, Vicky and Karen), we looked forward to playing Chiltern and hoping to grab a win.
The match was delayed by 10 mins due to a late umpire, leading to Hertford being sluggish from the whistle. Chiltern started the game well and created lots of opportunities but, fortunately for us, could not convert this into a goal. We started to slowly gain more of the ball and at half time, the score line was 0-0.
In the second half, we managed to turn the game around and after the break, a beautiful piece of work on the right hand side of the pitch through Lily, Vicky and Izzy Wing meant we nearly broke through for a goal. It finally seemed like we were going dominate the second half.
However, Chiltern won a series of short corners and managed to score off one with a well executed shot.
Being 1-0 down our hunger for a goal and a draw became clear. Jo began to work the ball beautifully into the d whilst Georgie began to dominate the left and with some repositioning of the midfield, she became impactful and a woman on a mission. Despite gaining about five short corners in a row, 2 of which were awarded due to a defender running early, that goal never came and we ended up losing the game.
Overall the second half showed what we can do and everyone pulled together and played as a team. Hopefully we can use that going into the match with Stevenage next week.
Woman of the match was Georgie.
