Broxbourne bounced off at home

Yet another great performance from Herford ladies 3s. The first half was dominated by Hertford however endless attacking play failed to deliver the holy grail – at half time there was much talk as to why they could not ‘put one away’. Daddy Wing (ex – rugby coach and top cheers leader!) commented that we were just too posh for our own good, spurred on by such derogatory comments, the ladies went into the second half assuming the personas of a team of ruffians – not mentioning any particular club of course in this match report, but nonetheless known to all for their chariot-like, bruise-inducing style of play!

With vroom vroom vroom in abundance and plenty of fighting spirit, FINALLY, like a cork popping from a bottle of Veuve Clicquot, the ball hit Broxbourne’s backbroad. Yelps of delight could be heard by every Alsatian in East Hertfordshire! The goal was scored by gazelle-like Miss Lucy B, a goal scorer for every game so far this season.

Man of the match went to sparkling Miss Izzy Wing, tenacious and hard working play all round.

In the final quarter, three short corners were awarded to Broxbourne but no goals were conceded thanks to fabulous Goalkeeping from Erin Lawson, taking one in the chest for the team. One short corners was defended by Ms Liddy’s knuckles, which left the Skipper baffled as to why a raised ball resulted in a long corner being awarded to Broxbourne ( many decisions resulting in extreme raising of eyebrows all round –botox needed for the backline please!), nevertheless she played on despite the pain and anguish, never one to make a fuss! Great defending as always from the defensive back line – solid as a rock (oh no Womack & Womack song in the head now).

A thrilling game against Broxbourne – worthy indeed of Broxbourne’s rather audacious, but very practical new stand. Broxbourne effectively bounced off the pitch both metaphorically and physically.
