The first leagues fixture of the season saw the Development Team pitched against strong opposition. The first 20 minutes was nip and tuck as each side tried to work an opening. After Tim chose the more difficult option of missing the target when a goal beckoned, Hertford suddenly sprang into life. A good passing move and some good individual skill saw Luke Kennedy threading the ball to Luke Brown in the perfect position at the back post to slot home. The score was quickly doubled hen Luke Kennedy found Josh Over to slot home and we went into the break 2-0 and feeling confident. The second half was a different affair with West Herts coming out strongly and their pressure meant we spent long periods defending. West Herts pulled two goals back to level at 2-2 despite some great work by Geoff Hopkin in the Hertford goal, and good defending by Joseph Mari and Ed Hartley. We were determined not to concede again and another flowing move up the pitch saw an excellent ball through to Steve Worrall to slip the ball under the keeper. The team gave everything to keep West Herts at bay, and we were delighted and exhausted when the final whistle went. The first league fixture, and a very hard fought 3-2 win.
