Hertford travelled to their furthest rival this weekend, and made sure it wasn't a wasted journey, beating Bedford 3s 3-1

As always, Hertford started with determination. With accurate distribution from the defence, Hertford worked their way up the pitch, ultimately winning their first short corner of the game. With a well rehearsed routine, Becki Quiddington took the strike well to give an early lead.

The goal rattled Bedford, who, for the first time looked threatening, and a complacent Hertford allowed them to equalise just two minutes after going ahead. The Hertford defence were then put under more pressure by Bedford, with the back three having to work hard to prevent Bedford from taking the lead, Nicola Estherby saved a shot off the line, and Lianne Warnell made some epic saves.

1-1 at half time, Hertford needed to regroup and raise their game. They came out fighting from the off, Lizzie Moore stealing the ball from the opposition and winning a short corner - the sweep in from Molly Pallet narrowly missing the target.

The battle continued with Hertford committing to every ball and every tackle. There was a short break in proceedings when Bevlyn DeAgostini took a ball to the head from a Bedford strike, leaving Hertford down to 12. The loss of their star defender riled Hertford and they started to chase the win. A perfect ball from man of the match Becki Quiddington found Molly Hobson on the edge of the D, who slipped the ball to Jen Heath. A quick fire shot hit the backboard with a crash.

Bedford responded again to going behind, testing the defence with a speedy attack, only to be thwarted by some excellent goalkeeping by Lianne Warnell. The defence quickly released the ball for a counter, the ball was passed seamlessly through Molly Pallett and the midfield to Jen Heath who forced a short corner. On this occasion the straight strike from Becki was intercepted, but the well rehearsed persistence from Leah Wilkerson left the keeper and defence un-sighted, and Becki was able to follow up with a reverse shot to make the final score 3-1.

The win leaves Hertford 5th in the table, with all to play for when they are at Home to Berkhamsted & Hemel.
