Hertford travelled to St Albans this week looking for their first win of the season following consecutive draws against Blueharts and Brentwood.
St Albans started strong from the off, immediately putting the Hertford defence under pressure and testing Lianne Warnell in goal. The defence continued to work tirelessly to hold off St Albans until the 15th minute where they went 1-0 ahead.
Despite being 1-0 down, Hertford slowly began to settle and demonstrated composure with their back field transfers between Bartram, Sharman, Estherby and Brown forcing the ball out wide and into the St Albans half. Great link up play between Evans and DeAgostini in mid field took the pressure off the defence in spells, but St Albans proved too strong and scored a second before the half time whistle.
The second half was much of the same, St Albans piling on the pressure, but Hertford show promise in spells, both Berry and Wilkerson having a opportunity to test the keeper. Hawes and man of the match Evans continued to work hard in midfield to create opportunities, but St Albans sealed their 3-0 win by catching Hertford on the break to score again ten minutes from time.
