The ladies 1's travelled away to Oakland college to play St Albans in what they knew was going to be a tough match. It was a muggy afternoon and Hertford looked lethargic even during the warm up. Hertford attempted a different formation in the first 10 minutes of the game but quickly realised it was causing over-crowding in defence and pulling Hertford too deep. St Albans earnt a short corner early on in the first half and converted with a strong sweep into the left post leaving Hertford trailing 1-0. A quick decision was made to revert back to the old formation and Hertford began to find their feet again hitting St Albans with a wave of attacks. Hertford were given a number of short corners but were unable to put any over the line despite some great strikes from forward Sian Foster. Unfortunately the half time whistle came all too early for Hertford who were just getting into the swing of the game. St Albans came back even stronger after the half time talk and it was fair to say they wanted the win more than we did. Teresa Bartram did some excellent defending in the centre back position and the midfield of Sophie Rawlinson, Jenny Goodson, Maddy Twyning and man of the match Molly Pallett worked tirelessly in the midfield but to no avail. St Albans managed to get a second goal from a well worked ball through the middle and the third came from the repeat short corner routine which got them the initial lead. Hertford heads were well and truly down by this point and despite each and every player giving their all Hertford were upset to finish with a 3-0 defeat.
