Hertford ladies 1's travelled away to Potters Bar on Saturday to play what they knew was going to be a tough fixture. Club Captain Sian Foster came up with a different warm up routine to the usual and Hertford were buzzing from the off.
The first 20 odd minutes was all Hertford; chances came and went, the play was slick and Hertford looked hungry for a goal. Before long a hard pass in from Sophie Rawlinson saw Sian Foster slot it home giving Hertford the lead.
Hertford had a slight lull to the end of the half and Potters Bar had a number of chances making the Hertford defence work hard, in particular goalkeeper Tina Hills who made some fantastic saves. It remained 1-0 to Hertford at half time though and Hertford were desperate for a win.
The second half was full of activity. Hertford played out of their skin; attacking with a furiousness seen over the last few weeks and Potters Bar were beginning to fluster. The second goal for Hertford came with a neat cross from Foster to Liz Berry in the D and the third a strike from Twyning to Foster saw her take the score to 3-0.
Despite a few attacks from Potters Bar Hertford were the stronger team in the second half and a cross in from Rawlinson to Bev Deagostini hanging by the keeper saw Hertford take the lead to 4-0.
Potters Bar managed to get a goal back with less than 10 minutes to play but by this point there was no hope for the local rivals. Hertford continued to flourish from here and the final goal came not long after from a fantastic run from midifielder Maddy Twyning who dribbled all the way from the 25 into the D and calmly slotted it past the keeper to take Hertford to 5-1. A fantastic team performance from Hertford who continue to prosper and a special mention to joint man of the match Maddy Twyning and Sophie Rawlinson.
