Ladies 1's bounce back

Hertford ladies 1 came away elated with a 6-1 win at home to Colchester 2's on Saturday.

Colchester had first push back and started strong attacking the Hertford D early but the ball was cleared every time by the Hertford defence. Hertford had a number of chances in the first half, the first goal coming from short sharp passing through the midfield to centre forward Sian Foster who slotted it home.

Despite a handful of short corners Hertford didn't manage to convert anymore in the first half and Colchester continued to battle hungry to equalise. It was from sheer determination by Colchester and a lull from the Hertford team that they managed to get a goal back from open play to level the score line.

The half time talk was what turned it around for Hertford. They came back onto the pitch and right from the off played their own game.

They looked dangerous on the break and were too quick for the Colchester team. The ball was passed fantastically all across the pitch but in particular from the midfield to the forwards creating chances everywhere. The second goal came after a mellay in the D when Bev Deagostini found the backboard and from then the goals kept coming.

The third goal was an initial strike which caused the keeper to dive and whilst she was on the floor Deagostini came in again and flicked it over her to score her second goal of the match.

The fourth goal was a strike by captain Molly Pallett which the keeper initially saved but Pallett followed up with a rebound shot and sent it flying to the bottom left corner.

The fifth goal was a great ball in from Sophie Rawlinson to Sian Foster who then slipped it across the front of the keeper to Maddy Twyning who sent it home.

The last goal was another great one from Foster and took the final score to 6-1. Hertford played some excellent hockey in the second half and wholly deserved the win. Special mention to Helen Owen for some fantastic play up the wing and to man of the match Bev Deagostini for her relentless battling in midfield.
