Hertford got off to a flying start on Saturday against a very well organised Potters Bar. Man of the match Sophie Rawlinson was dominating the central midfield with her pace. Along with captain Molly Pallett, Potters Bar had no time on the ball and they were losing the ball in crucial areas. Maddy Twyning was creating problems for the defence with her driving runs, and the first goal came from a driving run from Molly Pallett who found Sian Foster in front of goal, her sweep of the ball was initially saved, but Pallett followed up and pounced on the rebound.
It was only 5 mins later when Molly Pallet was allowed to dribble into the circle, her shot was deflected high into the net of Foster's stick. Hertford should have had one more but for a fine save from the keeper. Potters Bar were able to claw one back before the break as a loose pass out of defence was pounced on and Tina Hills had no chance to save as a one on one situation with the keeper was created.
Hertford at the break discussed the need to monitor the Potters Bar counter attack as it was very quick and the away team striker was very effective. Hertford were unlucky when a short corner routine by Potters bar saw them equalise. However Hertford were able to gain the lead again when Sophie Rawlinson finished with a well struck shot. Once again Potters Bar were given too much space and time to drive at the defence, and they quickly finished with an equalising goal.
Hertford had their chances to seal the game with another goal, but wide shots or fine saves where the outcome. Potters Bar were awarded a penalty flick with 3 minutes to go, when an initial strike at goal was saved by Teresa Bartrum, but the rebound was placed onto her leg. The flick was awarded and Tina Hills was unable to save. Hertford felt very disappointed with the result having been in the lead on 3 occasions
