Mens 4s V Bedford Vets

The 4s arrived at a somewhat sunny Bedford, after a traffic-stricken car journey, unsure of what to expect from the Bedford Vet's team. It was good to have Jared reprising his goalkeeping role again for us - had a cracking game with some excellent saves.

Before pushback our captain for the day, Tony, gave a very positive and simple team talk which was an encouraging start.

From the off we looked mostly alert and ready to play. The Bedford players quickly showed their hand - long passing balls through the centre - which we managed to pick up with minimal problems.

I have absolutely no idea who scored in what order but I know it was 3-0 (or 2-0) up at half time.

We played a very good first half. We kept position and varied our line of play. Mark and Nick did an admirable job of confusing their defence with all their running and switching.

Our midfield were solid as always and Tony had a brilliant game at the back.

The second half was much the same as the first. We dominated the play for a lot of the half, however we, and by we I mean I, did almost get a card for mouthing off at the somewhat rude umpire - I'm not convinced they can shout 'shut up' right in your face, but never mind life moves on!

2/3 more goals this half to widen the gap and it was evident that Bedford were getting tired and frustrated at this score line. Their short corner routines were effective however between Jared and our defence we managed to keep them out.

A great team performance this week, let's do the same next week and make sure we win by a big margin again to go top of the table, hopefully.
