A score line that flattered the opposition a little. We created a number of great opportunities and taking a couple more of these would have put more of a spring in our steps and held the tiredness at bay a little better. We had a slightly disjointed side with a number of people out of their regular position. Then add in the new formation and it is a recipe for not being able to pick up their players when they had the ball was a little not so fluid.
Our goal was well taken by debutant Jason who took the Broxbourne defence by surprise when he took the direct route straight into the top of the D and calmly slipped it past the approaching keeper. While at the other end debutant keeper Rob pulled out a number of fine saves (and the splits!). Both are a welcome addition to the team.
George also deserves a mention for his performance. So many times he robbed the Broxbourne players of possession and made it Hertford ball.
One more thing that also needs to be said about the performance was that the fight, determination and effort was there right until the end. With that and players in the right positions who have got used to the new system we have a good outlook for the season.
