Mens 4s Vs West Herts 5s

We started the game well. We had good possession and pressured them off the ball for the first 5 mins. Eventually they got to grips with themselves and started playing like a team who had just come down from div 6 against our team that mostly consisted of players from last years div 8 and 9. Lots of hard work and strong defending meant we went into the half time break 1-0 down, but we had struggled to test their goal keeper.

At half time we spoke about how well we were doing at the back, and that going forward we need turn back more frequently to retain the ball rather than challenging their back line while out numbered. We were still in the game and with just a smidgen more support to forward players and holding the ball up we felt there was a way back in.

But then the second half started – They found their triangles, started passing the ball around us much more effectively. They scored quite quickly after the break and then again about 5 mins later to make 3-0. With that their confidence grew and our 11 players were slowing down as a result of all the chasing. The goals carried on coming to end the game 6-0.

We had our chances. Jared tried a flick at our first short corner which went just wide of the post. We threatened their back line on the break many times but not quite managing to get the shoot away.

And a final well done to Rob Davies who was voted man of the match. Great game Rob.
