Gritty performance from Development team...

An excellent game against another development team. Shefford and Sandy started strongly, passing the ball well and using the space effectively. We settled down and we were helped by a more active front line. We started to exert a bit of pressure and, from their defensive clearance, Ciaran took the ball, beat a player and calmly slotted the ball home. The evergreen and very reliable Doug doubled the score with a strike from a short corner, and Archie made it three with a good deflection just before half-time. The second half was hard work, with Howie off injured and Shefford and Sandy throwing everything including the kitchen sink at us. The defence stayed firm - supporting each other and covering well. Max was immense. We soaked up the pressure and stopped the shooting opportunities and held firm. We didn't create much going forward, but Archie put in a great performance with great energy up front. In the last minute we conceded from a short corner but the game was over by then. A tough but really enjoyable game against a good team - we come off the pitch exhausted but happy with the three points.
