but Luke Godwin scores to save the day

The heavens emptied just as we were going to start this match and there was no shelter.....with the match about to start we took off our flippers and goggles and made the best of it as more rain lashed down. We took a while to settle down as we being closed down on the ball. The risk of drowning reduced as the game progressed. We had most of the possession and, apart for a smart save from Sam Timms, we were rarely troubled, The Royston keeper was in fine form and made some great saves until Luke Godwin reacted quickest when the ball bounced off the keeper's pads to slot the ball home. The second half was much the same, lots of pressure from Hertford but shipped a goal as a scuffed shot went in off the post. We continued to dominate but were unable to convert any of the dozen or so short corners. The game ended 1-1, and we came off a bit disappointed at dropping our first points of the season. Oh, and we came off rather wet too.
