Still unbeaten...

Well done 3s – another win under our belt, this time against a painfully youthful St Albans side – with bags of speed and skill, but lacking in weight…

After away games in distant counties, a short jaunt to St Albans was a welcome trip – although their dry bouncy pitch was less enjoyable. Despite the opposition taking their time deciding on their kit shade for the day, Arthur managed to turn up in pristine whites – well done to his Mum. This purity of Arthur’s socks was not reflected in our performance in the first 10 minutes.

10 minutes in, and we made another accurate pass – but this was the first one to go to one of our own sticks. The youthful blur of orange had made the whole team dizzy, and horrendous fouls began to sneak into the game. Miles attacked the young orange shirts as if he had been repressing a desire to beat orange youngsters for years. This did not stop them getting the first goal. A short corner was taken and found Miles’ foot on the goal-line. Despite a valiant effort Geoff couldn’t reach the resulting flick.

Just before the half way point Renn managed to pick up our first card of the campaign. Why make a clean tackle, when you can hack through the back of a player who had just made you look like a fool?

Thankfully the half-time team talk was inspiring, and leading by example, Jon L (talking about himself in the 3rd person here), pulled Hertford back into the game. An incisive run gave him some space at the top of the D. The subsequent shot was designed perfectly to skip underneath the nearest defender, and then through the goalkeepers legs at a similar pace to Dickie’s top speed.

Sam and Rob began to rampage up either side of the pitch, providing a fantastic outlet to Howie, while ensuring that the opposition consistently ran the ball into their sticks. The forward line put together some fine moves, which eventually led to another goal – either by Arthur, James or Andy. We won 4-2, so you can piece the rest of it together yourselves.

MoM – Sam – splendid effort – keep on growin’
DoD – first card of the season – terrible person – looks good in a silly DoD hat.

A special thanks to Clive for travelling with us for support.
