So the Men's 3's first game in Division 5, and the visit of fellow promoted side Berko for a lunchtime on a warm September day.
The early exchanges were even, with both team's trying to find their feet. As the first half progressed, Berko started to apply some pressure and it was against the run of play that Richard Rawlinson put Hertford ahead, slotting home his initial shot after it re-bounded of the keeper. Berko carried to apply the pressure and equalised when Hertford gave the ball away in midfield and their centre forward ran through to score. Soon afterwards they took the lead, when the broke quickly from a Hertford long corner and despite the efforts of Arjun Patel took the lead.
This was the end of the scoring in the first half, and after a positive half time talk, Hertford came out strongly and finally started to boss the game, without creating a lot of clear chances, but eventually Jon Green disposed the Berko centre back and slotted home. Berko noticeable tired and more pressure from Hertford paid off with Sam Maloney slotting home from close range.
Unfortunately Hertford could not hold onto this lead and a third and final goal from Berko meant that honours were even.
3's move on to another tough game next week when they visit Stevenage II
