Promotion hopes all but gone

The men's 3's turn up for this defining game in their season against 4th place Ricky, with a strong squad of 15. Andy Durbin joining the squad after returning from illness and Nik Bentley returning from injury at the back.

We starting by playing some of our best hockey of season for the first 10-15 minutes and deservedly took a two goal lead through Richard Rawlinson and the return from Steve Worrall and all seem to be going well when a shot was a Ricky Forward was deflected past Sam Timms and the goal. This did not seem to bother the 3's as they proceeded to score twice more through Martin Bailey after a run from Richard Rawlinson despite calls from Hiskens to move the f'ing ball...............................well I guess he did, and also a goal from Jasper Carr.

Ricky pulled another goal back before the end of a high-scoring half, but Hertford still felt confident going into the second.

Despite controlling a lot of the ball in the second half, Ricky still created chances and pull two goals back to tie the game up. Hertford tried to retrieve the game and score the all important goal but despite a few chances, they did quite manage it.

With Letchworth beating Berko (shame), it seems that the promotion hopes are over for this season, but with a games against Potters Bar 3's and Albans 7's to come and the possibility of a double over our neighbours from Broxbourne it has still been a successful season.
