Well what can you say about the Men's 3's with a couple of late drop outs and unavailability - only 10 made the long trip to Bedford.
Captain Insole talked before the game about being clever. Being confident. Being controlled. And, above all, being efficient. And about stepping up to fill the shoes of those who couldn't make it today.
Hertford took the lead early on from a short corner, with Archie Akers slotting home at the right post from a pass from Clive Insole, the second arrived 5 minutes later with Akers slotting in again at the right post from a short corner. James Berry then doubled the lead before half time with 2 more goals, slotting home a rebound off the keeper and then reacted first to a quickly taken free hit.
Shellshocked Bedford improved after the break and Thomas Smith ensure that a clean sheet was achieved. Hertford did add a fifth goal 5 minutes from the end with Archie Akers completing his hat-trick when a free hit on the 23 yrd line was deflected into his path by Jon Green.
With Berkhamsted losing at home to Broxbourne, the fight for second and third place is getting tighter by the week.
