Hertford Suffer Home defeat

The 3’s entered this week with the euphoria of their first win last week at West Herts with a large squad of 15. They started the game slowly and only some good defensive tackles kept Berko at bay.

Hertford played very much on the break and were unlucky when a last ditch tackle stopped Jasper Carr giving Hertford the lead. Shortly afterwards Hertford did take the lead, when a ball into the D was excellent controlled and finished by Jon Green.

One soon became 2 as a goal-line scramble result in a Berko foot on the line and Clive Insole despatched the resulting penalty stroke. Berko responded immediately with a goal back and equalised shortly before half time to make it 2 each at the break

The second half started as an even affair, but then Hertford started to lose their shape and give the ball away on numerous occasions, of which 2 resulted in Berko goals. They added a fifth after Smudger had saved the initial strike. And as much as Hertford tried they could not mange to break down or trouble the Berko back-line.

The team move on to a trip to local rivals St. Albans next week
