The 3's are finally back to winning ways

The 3's made the long and late trip to Watford on Saturday looking for their first win of the season at the third time in asking against another one of the relegated side West Herts. They also welcomed the returning Paul Hiskens back to the club for his first game in a number of years.

West Herts started the game strongly, moving the ball around well on a quick skiddy surface and came close on a number of occasions in the first half, with some decent saves from Sam Timms and some excellent defending from the back three. Hertford did create a few changes on the break, with good running from Finn Kennedy upfront and strong running from Jon Layfield in midfield, we came close from a couple of short corners. It was from one of these short corners on the stroke of half time the ball was slipped right by Clive Insole and Nick (Lanky) Earnshaw cracked the ball into the goal, from a flattering lead.

Again West Herts came out strongly and from a short corner of their own scored early in the second half. But this seemed to spur on Hertford and with Paul Hiskens controlling things from the back and Clive Insole, Richard Rawlinson and Nik Bentley using the space on the left side to the advance, Hertford started to take control of the game and before long they regained the lead through a tap by Ed Mills from a cross by Finn Kennedy. Then a move down the right, with Dickie Rawlinson feeding the ball to Jon Layfield he gave Hertford a 3-1 lead with just over 15 minutes to go. I slip at the back allow West Herts a goal back with around 10 minutes to go, but Hertford always looked the most likely to score the next goal and did through tap in from Clive Insole to make the final score 4-2

An excellent around performance, with lot's of individuals contributing to the game.
