"Some say he naturally faces magnetic north, and that if he felt like it he could fire Alan Sugar. All we know is he's still got it."

Hertford arrived at this weeks Summer League game knowing that they needed at least 12 goals with no response to claim 1st place back from Cheshunt. With a once again much changed side, they also knew it could prove a much tougher task on the pitch than on paper. They began the game well and despite taking a while to settle into their new roles and responsibilities, they steadied themselves and grew into the game without conceding a goal after coming under some early pressure from the youthful Whippersnappers.

Hertford grabbed the first goal and felt they deserved it given their counter attacking mentality moving into the game. The second goal came soon after as the passing and movement began to look like second nature to everybody in the team. As the first half went on, it looked less likely that Hertford would concede and that would become a reality as 3 more goals saw them move into the break with a healthy 5-0 lead. The half time talk was incredibly motivational, with the lads discussing who had the best tan and who could withstand the most amount of sun rays while chilling in the Caribbean... Needless to say South African Ben VR came out on top in both of the categories.

The second half moved in much the same way as the first with Tom having to make few saves in goal and there being little pressure from the opposition even from short corners. Another 6 goals were to come in the second half, with Ben Van Rooyen netting along with International Gavin Elliott, Adam Price, Luke Rawlinson and Matt Earle.

Mr Earle had not yet seen much goal action in this years Summer league, with many of his goals coming in the inter club games at Simon Balle. However he had his shooting boots on this week and completed his hat trick with a fine move with Luke Rawlinson down the left hand side of the pitch before firing passed the keeper. The 2 final goals of the game both came from Gavin Elliott and Ben Van Rooyen who were both in competition with each other to see who could hit the ball the hardest. We will leave it up to them to decide what he winner of that completion was, with both of them nearly ripping through the goal net...
