Youthful Hertford ease past Stevenage

Hertford got off to the best possible start to this years Summer League with a 6-2 victory over Stevenage. Despite most of the team not having played for several weeks since the end of the season, the game begin in a very fast paced fashion. Hertford soon took the lead through Adam Price who fired his shot high into the top right corner of the goal. Hertford's lead was then doubled when Archie Akers latched onto a through ball and with 2 touches, calmly slotted past the keeper.

The second half started with the same amount of urgency and pace as the first and Hertford soon took advantage and slotted in their third goal thanks to a second from Adam. Stevenage then grabbed one back before Luke Rawlinson slotted in at the far post to almost put the game beyond the reach of Stevenage. Goal five then completed Price's hat-trick to leave the score at 5-2 going into the final 10 minutes. The scoreline was completed when Ian Dunnett smashed the ball into the D for Clive Insole to deflect the ball into the top the net with possibly the best goal of the game.

One more piece of action was to come when Finn Kennedy, making his debut in goal, finally had an excuse to slide out from his goal and stop a 2 on 1 attack in stevenage's favour. He read the ball beautiful and went down at just the right time to stop Stevenage from walking the ball into the goal.

Hertford can now look forward to their next game against Bishops Stortford on Thursday 14th April, where they will be looking to get the advantage over the previous Summer League winners.
