Hertford went into the game knowing the victory was crucial if they were to retain top spot in the league. The game started slowly and it took Hertford a while to pull together as a team and compose themselves after several good attacks from Cheshunt. Despite the pressure that Hertford found themselves under in the early stages, they managed to grab the first goal thanks to a neatly taken effort from James Harris. Hertford went into the break having held their nerve, leaving the score at 1-0 when the half time whistle went.
The second half saw Hertford have much more possession without threatening the Cheshunt goal much, an area of the game that Hertford would regret as they saw Cheshunt score a vital equaliser midway through the second half. Despite the score-line, Hertford continued to press and were rewarded with 2 more goals to see the game out from Goal Machine Norman. Norman now has 12 goals in the 6 games that he has played and will surely be a vital part of Hertfords bid to win their first ever Summer League title.
With results going in Hertford favour elsewhere in the league, they now need only 4 points from their last 3 games to secure the title.
