Hertford showed some of their best hockey to ease past struggling Whippersnappers in their latest Broxbourne Summer League encounter. Hertford began the game in a much more composed manor than previous weeks and soon took the lead through James Harris after some quality play through the middle of the pitch. This set the tone for the rest of the first half and further goals where added from James Harris and Matt Earle, leaving Hertford comfortable at the break and Sam Timms little to do in the Hertford goal.
The second half was much the same with Hertford remaining composed at the back and rarely being threatened. As the game wore on the spaces opened up and Hertford continued to add further goals from James Harris and coach Nick Downer, before James Harris completed his second hat-trick in a week with a solo run from the half way line. Whippersnappers did finally pull a goal back and a couple of decent saves from Sam Timms prevented them adding more. Jon Layfield completed the scoring, adding his first and Hertford's seventh.
The large victory has put Hertford temporarily on top of the League with Bishops Stortford vs. Potters Bar on Tuesday Evening
Hertford take on Welwyn Garden City on the 13th July and will be hoping they can remain composed and continue to score goals as well as keep them out at their end.
