Hertford Maintain 100% Record

Hertford reached the half way mark of this year’s summer league with all 24 points after defeating all 8 teams involved. The game on Thursday saw them take on this year’s new recruits Winchmore Hill & Enfield.

New opposition meant that Hertford had to begin the game in a cautious manor not knowing what to expect from the defence right the way through to the attacking line. Despite the cautious approach from Hertford, it was WH&E that took the lead after pushing higher up the pitch as the first half went on. As the first half went on, it was Hertford that began to keep the ball better and put the pressure on WH&E. A fine piece of skill from Adam Price saw him skip passed the defence and fire a shot across goal which Ben Cooper Latched onto to make it 1-1 going into the break.

The half-time break came at just the wrong time for Hertford as they lost their momentum and soon found themselves 3-1 down going into the final 20 minutes of the match. Despite the score-line Hertford didn't let their heads drop as they knew they had the quality to come back after being 3-1 to Broxbourne the week before and winning 4-3.

This mentality helped the league leaders push on and sure enough the goals began to flood in. Ian Dunnett grabbed a second for Hertford which was soon followed by an equaliser from the returning Nick Downer. Adam Price then added 2 more before Clive Insole completed the score-line with a perfectly taken effort.
