On the evening of Tuesday 19th May Hertford put on their kit and prepared to push on for their 5th straight victory to remain firmly at the top of the Broxbourne Summer League table. Cheshunt began the game the brighter of the 2 sides and were ahead after just 5 minutes, scoring from their first short corner of the game. Despite going a goal down, Hertford did not let their heads drop and soon grew into the game, playing like they had been since the first game in April. This spell of fine play was soon rewarded with 3 more goals in the first half to set the score at half time at 3-1.
The Half time break allowed Hertford time to compose themselves and remind each other not to get complacent, knowing that Cheshunt were capable of scoring more goals. However it was complacency that saw Cheshunt score their 2nd goal of the game just after the restart but although the score was now sitting at 3-2 Hertford pushed on and could feel the next few goals coming. A further 5 goals were scored by Hertford in the second half with Cheshunt managing only 3 in reply. The game was never as clean cut as Hertford would have liked but the victory will still feel as good against their local rivals.
The team can now turn their attention to next Thursdays game against Potters Bar to look for that next perfect victory.
