A James Begg Hat-trick and solid team performance keeps Hertford on top in Summer League

Hertfords Mens team retained their 100% win record in the Broxbourne Summer league by beating Whippersnappers 9-4 on Tuesday.
Despite Whippersnappers playing the entire game without a Goalkeeper, they started the stronger team and scored the opening goal after a good spell of pressure. However despite the strong start, it was then Hertford who took advantage of the open goal scoring 3 goals without a response putting them firmly in the driving seat moving into the business end of the game.

Hertford continued to apply pressure, missing numerous opportunities but moving further in front when Ian Dunnett and James Begg knocked in Hertfords 4th and 5th goal. A similar story continued throughout the game with Tom Smith being worked in goal by the Whippersnapper forwards and the Hertford forwards pressing the opposition defense, trying to take advantage of the lack of goalkeeper.
Hertfords 8th goal came courtesy of a Penalty Flick which was awarded when one of the Whippersnapper defenders saved a certain goal with his foot. James Begg cooly finished off the flick to seal his hat-trick and ensure Hertfords 3rd straight victory. Finn Kennedy then rounded off the goals for Hertford just before the final Whistle.

Hertford face Welwyn Garden City in their next game and will be looking to pull further away from the teams below them.

Man of the Match: James Begg
