Hertfords Mens Summer team secured their second win in as many games against Stevenage.

The second game of the Summer league season saw Hertford take on Stevenage with a distinctly different team to the one that beat Bishops Stortford just a week before. It was unknown how the new set of players would perform together against a Stevenage side looking to stamp their name into the Summer League for the first time in a few years.
Stevenage began the game the stronger team putting Hertford under pressure from the push back. Sam was tested in goal and Gav Elliott was forced to be as commanding as ever from the back line to bring the team together and settle down for the rest of the game.
Despite the pressure from Stevenage, it was Hertford the broke the deadlock thanks to a nicely taken goal from James Begg which helped calm Hertford nerves going into the Half-time break.

The second Half saw Hertford start the strong team creating several good opportunities against the tiring 11 man Stevenage team. Hertford then grabbed a second thanks to a double effort from Matt Earle that saw his first half volley saved by the keeper who knocked it back out to him, but saw the ball fire passed him into the net thanks to Matts fine second effort. Despite Hertfords second goal it was Stevenage who then began to get back on top and ended up scoring the next goal courtesy of a quick free hit taken at the top of the D that saw the Hertford Defense on their heels. Despite the gap being closed to just one goal, it was soon extended again within a minute of Stevenage scoring. From the push back, James Begg sent an aerial towards the Stevenage D which was misjudged by the defender and knocked onto Rich Wills who passed the ball across goal for a tap in by Matt Earle, his second of the game.

Stevenage did then pull back another goal, to make it a tight finish, but Sam Timms and his defence held firm

Hertford now go into their next game against Whippersnappers knowing that they now have the momentum to push on for a third win and cause an upset at the Whippersnappers home ground.
